Quartetto di Cremona's special way with Beethoven

It’s years now since all of us in the music business who are privileged to scribble about the music we hear clocked the Quartetto di Cremona as something special. It was clear, from the very first release in this new Beethoven series, that here was a quartet voice that had something to say and a way of saying it distinctively. I’m not remotely embarrassed to admit that, from the first moment I heard them play I heard resonances in their big sound, forward projection, confident and strong attacking style of the long-gone Quartetto Italiano, one of the greatest string quartets of all time.

John Axelrod is the Principal Conductor of the 2016 Pacific Music Festival

Under the invitation of Valery Gergiev, John Axelrod is the Principal Conductor of the 2016 Pacific Music Festival (PMF). The PMF is an international educational music festival founded in Sapporo in 1990 by leading 20th century conductor and composer Leonard Bernstein.
Now a quarter century on, a cumulative total of over 3,200 excellent musicians have taken part. John Axelrod said: "The lesson I learned from my teacher Bernstein is that educating our youth is the greatest investment in our future, and it is not only where music can be made but also where we may find meaning”.

Andrea Lucchesini in Salzburg

on July 18 until 24 Andrea Lucchesini  holds a master class at the Internationale Sommerakademie Mozarteum in Salzburg.

The opening concert of the courses at the Groβer Hall of the Mozarteum (July 17, 20 hours), will be attended by Lucchesini both as a soloist and as a chamber musician.

We are glad to announce the representation of the 27-years-old outstanding conductor Maxim Emelyanychev.

Trained by Gennady Rozhdestvensky in Moscow, he is the Principal Conductor of Il Pomo D’Oro.

During the 2015-16 season, among the intense worldwide activity with Il Pomo D’Oro, he also conducts the Orquesta Nacional de Espana, the Real Filarmonica de Galicia and the Real Orquesta Sinfonica de Sevilla. He collaborates - among the others - with Max Emanuel Cencic, Katia and Marielle Labèque, Joyce Di Donato.

The upcoming programs will see Emelyanychev conducting works by Beethoven, Mozart, Poulenc, Ravel, Sibelius, Tchaikovsky (Evgenij Onegin)…

On May 7th John Axelrod conducts the world premiere of Fabio Vacchi new opera: Lo specchio magico (The Magic Mirror), is the mysterious instrument through which a child can show four ferocious tyrants the dramatic future that threatens the planet. But it is also a journey through different eras and combining distant countries thousands of kilometers from each other, a reflection on the beauty of the stories that tell about life and a thrilling parable of hope. With his language that combines classical music, ethnic references and rap, the new work by Fabio Vacchi is presented in world premiere at the 79° Maggio Musicale Fiorentino Festival.
