John Axelrod returns to LaVerdi, in Milan. He will conduct Brahms' Serenata no.1 and Šostakovič' Symphony no. 6. Born in 1939, a crucial year in twentieth-century history, the Sixth in fact conveys the image of a restless and disturbing, grotesque and tragic world shaped by Šostakovič with a language that is deliberately disjointed and unbalanced, almost as if to mirror a world that had lost its mind.
The concerts will be on Friday 5 at 8 pm and on Sunday 7 at 4 pm, at Auditorium of Milan, Fondazione Cariplo.
